Bring a picnic lunch* or even a kite to fly and take some time out to relax and restore your body and spirit, especially after a long winter, cold spring and…the recent TORNADO! Everyone needs a little down time and the Friends encourage you to take some time to enjoy nature at Hamden’s beloved park.
The Friends of Brooksvale Park invites everyone to visit on FRIENDS DAY and enjoy the many educational and wonderful opportunities offered for FREE.
- Mini-Horse Driving & Lunging Demo
- Introduction to Beekeeping
- Organic Garden Tour
- Pond Life Exploration
- Meet the rabbits, goats, chicken and sheep that live at the park.
*There will be a table of fresh baked treats for all to share. If you’d like to contribute snacks or cold drinks, feel free to do so. Contact the Ranger at 203-287-2669 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re bringing a large group and/or donating a larger amount of food and drink.
The Friends of Brooksvale Park want to expand the educational, recreational and volunteer opportunities at the park. FOB is looking for folk who are interested in helping make these improvements happen. The core group of FOB officers have been leading this effort for a long time, and now THEY need YOUR support. Please come and enjoy the Park on June 9, and consider helping move the Park forward. There will be a brief business meeting at 11;30am. All members are encouraged to attend.
Volunteering helps the park staff, but it’s also a great opportunity to learn and further your own interests. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES include:
Programming Assistant – helping teach our youth about the natural world and “Life on a Farm”
Barnyard Docents – help visitors understand our animals, the Farm Garden and Bee apiary
Maple Sugaring Interns – Assist and learn the craft with the Brooksvale Sugarmaker in Feb & March
FOB Committees – Publicity, Membership, Trails, Nature Education, Fundraising, Programming & Hospitality
Due to the outdoor nature of the event, rain will cancel it.
